Two West Nipissing Residents Charged Following Traffic Stop by OPP

On September 29, 2025, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) made two arrests following a routine traffic stop in West Nipissing. At approximately 12:05 p.m., officers from the Nipissing West Detachment stopped a vehicle on Queen Street, where they uncovered a series of violations involving both the driver and the passenger.

The driver, identified as 49-year-old Andre Fournier, was arrested after it was revealed that he was operating the vehicle while under suspension. Fournier’s charges are significant: he is facing counts of operating a vehicle while prohibited under the Criminal Code, taking a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent, driving while under suspension, and failing to properly wear a seatbelt.

Adding to the complexity of the situation, the passenger, 30-year-old Tracy Sergerie, was also taken into custody. She has been charged with mischief for damaging the vehicle and failing to comply with a probation order. The vehicle’s registered owner informed the police that it had been taken without their permission, raising concerns about vehicle theft in the area.

Both Fournier and Sergerie have been released from custody but are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on November 6, 2025. This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety and the legal responsibilities of drivers and passengers alike.

Residents of West Nipissing are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the OPP. As the investigation continues, authorities are determined to uphold the law and ensure that such incidents do not compromise the safety and security of the community.
