On September 28, 2025, early in the morning, an alert by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) led to a significant drug bust in Kingston, Ontario. Officers from the Frontenac Detachment were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program at the Montreal Street exit from Highway 401 when a vehicle failed to comply with the stop signal.

The incident unfolded shortly after 2:00 a.m. when a car, later identified as being driven by 30-year-old Chanelle Bermingham, sped past the RIDE check. Officers quickly pursued the vehicle, which was subsequently halted a short distance away.

Upon stopping the vehicle, police conducted an investigation that yielded impressive results. A search of the car revealed over 450 grams of suspected methamphetamine and more than 225 grams of suspected cocaine. Additionally, approximately $11,000 in cash was seized, suggesting possible drug trafficking activities.

Bermingham was arrested on the scene and is now facing multiple charges, including possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and failing to stop for police.
