North Frontenac Man Charged with Impaired Driving After Single Vehicle Collision

A single-vehicle collision in North Frontenac Township has resulted in impaired driving charges against a local man. On Saturday, September 27, 2025, officers from the Frontenac Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and firefighters from North Frontenac were dispatched to Marble Lake Road just after 6:30 p.m.

Upon arrival at the scene, authorities discovered that a vehicle had veered off the road and collided with a rock cut. The driver initially fled the scene but was later located nearby. Upon investigation, officers arrested the driver, identified as John Trudell, a 63-year-old resident of Cloyne.

Trudell was subsequently taken to the detachment for testing, where authorities determined that he was operating the vehicle while impaired. He faces two charges: Operation While Impaired - Alcohol and Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus).

Following the incident, Trudell was released from custody but is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Kingston on October 28, 2025. In addition to the charges, his driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days, and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.

This incident highlights the ongoing issue of impaired driving in Ontario and the commitment of local authorities to ensure road safety. The OPP encourages all drivers to remain vigilant and sober behind the wheel, as impaired driving poses significant risks not only to the driver but also to other road users.

As the court date approaches, the outcome of Trudell’s case will be closely watched, serving as a reminder of the serious legal consequences associated with impaired driving in Canada.
