Fatal Motorcycle Collision in Peterborough County Claims Life of 69-Year-Old Man


A tragic motorcycle accident in Peterborough County has resulted in the death of a 69-year-old man from Hastings. The incident, which occurred on Friday evening, has left the local community in shock as they mourn the loss of a fellow resident.

At approximately 5:20 p.m. on September 27, 2025, members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with Peterborough Fire Services and paramedics, responded to a report of a motorcyclist who had been ejected from his motorcycle on County Road 2, near Bensfort Road.

Despite the quick response from emergency services and efforts to resuscitate him, the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.

The OPP is currently conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision, which will involve the OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement and Technical Collision Investigation teams. These teams specialize in reconstructing incidents to determine the cause and any contributing factors to such tragic events.

As part of the investigation, a section of County Road 2 was closed for several hours to allow investigators to gather evidence and assess the scene. The area has since reopened, but the investigation remains ongoing.
