Sergeant Gerry Smith had a commendable career with the OPP, serving from November 1987 until his retirement in November 2017. Tragically, he passed away unexpectedly in April 2024, leaving behind a legacy that resonated deeply within the community he served. Known for his unwavering commitment to community policing, he was a staunch supporter of various initiatives, including the OPP Auxiliary Program and the Cops for Cancer / Pedal for Hope events.

The dedication ceremony will feature remarks from notable figures including Selwyn Township Mayor Sherry Senis and Peterborough County OPP Detachment Commander Chris Galeazza, as well as family and friends of the late Sergeant Smith.
