Nottawasaga OPP Investigate Stolen Pickup Truck, Request Public Help with Video Footage

In a concerning incident that has shaken the quiet community of Essa Township, the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is actively investigating the theft of a 2024 Toyota Tundra pickup truck. The truck was reported stolen from a residential driveway on Nottawasaga Drive early on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.

According to the OPP, officers responded to the theft report around 7:20 a.m. Upon arrival, they found broken glass on the driveway, indicating that forced entry had occurred. The stolen vehicle, a white Toyota Tundra with Ontario license plate number BZ13420, was equipped with a tracking device that led officers to a nearby area on Centre Street.

Surveillance footage has revealed critical details about the theft. The video shows a suspect SUV arriving at the scene shortly after 1:10 a.m. Two individuals, dressed in hoodies, exited the vehicle, while a third person remained inside. One suspect broke the driver’s side window, while the other utilized an unknown device to gain entry into the Tundra.

The OPP are urging residents and businesses in the area to review their surveillance footage from that night, particularly between 1:00 a.m. and 2:00 a.m. Any video that captures suspicious activity or the suspects themselves could prove invaluable in the investigation.

Car thefts have been a growing concern across Ontario, with many communities experiencing an uptick in such incidents. The OPP encourage vehicle owners to take preventive measures to protect their property, including parking in well-lit areas, utilizing steering wheel locks, and ensuring that valuable items are not left visible inside vehicles.

As the OPP continue their investigation, they emphasize the importance of community vigilance and cooperation. Anyone with information regarding the incident or the stolen vehicle is encouraged to contact the Nottawasaga OPP.

With the increasing number of vehicle thefts, it is crucial for communities to come together to combat this issue. Local residents are reminded that their awareness and prompt reporting of suspicious activities can significantly aid law enforcement efforts in keeping Essa Township and surrounding areas safe.
