In a recent incident underscoring the importance of road safety and compliance with law enforcement, the Upper Ottawa Valley detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a 41-year-old driver from Wallaceburg, Lacy George, with refusal to comply with a police demand.

On September 22, 2025, shortly before 4:30 p.m., OPP officers responded to a complaint at a local business situated on Pembroke Street East in the City of Pembroke. Upon their arrival, officers located the vehicle associated with the complaint and engaged with the driver.

Following the interaction, George was charged for refusing to comply with a demand made by the police. As a consequence of the charge, George’s driver’s licence has been suspended for a period of 90 days. Additionally, the vehicle involved in the incident was towed and will remain impounded for seven days. This action reflects the OPP’s commitment to ensuring that drivers adhere to the laws designed to keep Ontario’s roads safe.

George is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on October 21, 2025, where further legal proceedings will take place.

This incident serves as a reminder for all drivers in Ontario to remain compliant with police demands, particularly when safety is at stake. The OPP continues to prioritize road safety and the enforcement of traffic laws, ensuring that all residents can travel safely throughout their communities.

The Upper Ottawa Valley community, known for its beautiful landscapes and tight-knit environment, is encouraged to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities to local law enforcement, reinforcing the importance of community engagement in maintaining public safety.
