Golf Cart Collision in Southwest Middlesex Leads to Impaired Driving Charge


In a concerning incident that highlights the dangers of impaired driving, a 20-year-old man from the Chippewas of the Thames First Nation has been charged after a collision involving a golf cart on private property in Southwest Middlesex. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the scene on September 20, 2025, at approximately 4:45 p.m. following reports of the accident at a local business on Longwoods Road.

According to the OPP, the individual was operating a golf cart when he lost control and rolled the vehicle. Fortunately, he sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital for treatment. However, the aftermath of the incident has led to serious legal consequences.

The accused, identified as Cruise Cornelius, now faces charges under the Criminal Code for impaired operation of a vehicle. Specifically, he has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol

  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

After being processed by the police, Cornelius was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on October 16, 2025.
