Oneida Nation of the Thames Resident Charged After Assaulting OPP Officer During Disturbance
In a concerning incident that unfolded in the early hours of September 20, 2025, a 19-year-old woman has been charged following an altercation with Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers in Oneida Nation of the Thames, Middlesex County. The disturbance was reported at approximately 3:17 a.m. on Elijah Road.
Upon arrival, OPP officers attempted to place Lydia Elijah-Thomas, a resident of the Oneida Nation, under arrest. However, the situation quickly escalated as she became resistant, leading to an assault on one of the officers involved. Thankfully, the officer did not sustain any injuries during the incident.
Elijah-Thomas now faces serious charges under the Criminal Code, including:
