Tillsonburg Woman Charged with Impaired Driving After Traffic Complaint on Highway 401
In a concerning incident highlighting the ongoing issue of impaired driving, a 41-year-old woman from Tillsonburg has been charged after the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint on Highway 401. The event occurred late on the evening of September 19, 2025, when police were alerted to a possible impaired driver.
Officers from the Oxford OPP Detachment quickly located the vehicle in question on Plank Line near Mount Elgin. Upon further investigation, Amanda Chilcott was charged with operating a vehicle while impaired by alcohol and for failure or refusal to comply with a demand made by the police.
Driving under the influence remains a significant concern on Canadian roadways, and the OPP are committed to ensuring the safety of all motorists. Chilcott’s charges come with severe penalties, including an immediate 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment, both of which are mandatory under law for such offences.
Chilcott has since been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock at a later date. This incident serves as a stark reminder for all Canadians about the dangers of impaired driving and the importance of responsible behaviour behind the wheel.
The OPP encourages members of the public to remain vigilant and report any instances of impaired, aggressive, or careless driving. In emergency situations, individuals are urged to call 911. For non-emergency situations, complaints can be made by dialing 1-888-310-1122.
